Guidance for Earth Stewards

Our Book of Common Prayer includes prayers for all kinds of events and situations. Combining prayers thanking God for the beauty and fullness of the earth and for help in living out our tasks of daily life, we find a compass for us as Earth Stewards. We are so blessed with the fullness of creation and, thus, devote our efforts to preserve and protect it the best we can though daily decisions and tasks. (Noting that the second prayer is broader than Creation Care specific action, but that all our actions are connected in a Christ centered life). Here are these beautiful prayers:

We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of the earth and sky and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains, and rivers; for the song of birds, and loveliness of flowers. We praise you for these good gifts and pray that we may safeguard them for our posterity. Grant that we may continue to grow in our grateful enjoyment of your abundant creation, to the honor and glory of your name, now and forever. Amen

Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favor, and further us with thy continual help; that all our works begun continued, and ended in you, we may glorify your holy name, and finally, in your mercy, obtain everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
