From the Rector’s desk..
On Sunday evening, July 28th, the newly-christened Kaw Valley Minster will be holding a solemn Evensong at Grace Episcopal Church in Ottawa, Kansas. The Kaw Valley Minster is a fellowship of parishes and other Episcopal institutions in this area that seek to find ways to minister to the community together, and include Trinity Church, Grace Church, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Edwardsville, the Lawrence Canterbury House, and Bishop Seabury Academy.
A solemn Evensong is an Evening Prayer service in which various portions of the liturgy are chanted, rather than read, using plainsong music. It is a style of worship that Trinity has not seen in a long time, and I hope that you will join us not only to experience the breath of the liturgical culture the Episcopal Church has to offer, but also to support the Kaw Valley Minster as well.
The Minster will be hosting joint programs on a regular basis, which we will be promoting here in the Corner. We will also be sharing news our other partners on what they are doing, especially things that our members can enjoy, for example sporting events at Seabury or programs for young adults at Canterbury House.
The Minster model, which is being implemented across the diocese, is intended to celebrate our interdependence as the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Kansas. We are more than just one parish, but part of a broader network of people of faith and disciples of Christ.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Rob+
