Week of June 14, 2020

Hi everyone! Well, we are still in lock down in Nepal- day 79 I think. The full lock down is supposed to end in 2 days, but identification of cases has been skyrocketing (we have gone from 1700 identified cases a week ago, to over 4,000 today) so I am not sure what that will look like. Many of the businesses and people have begun to defy lock down and open up/go out, due to the extreme financial hardship this is causing. Not a single person in Nepal has a computer-based job, or “works from home,” so every day of the lock down is another day without income for them. Please just pray for wisdom for the government moving forward, and for God’s protection for the people here. It is obvious that the situation is worse than we knew originally, and with the nearly non-existent medical system here that is very concerning when considering going back to life as usual- but we can’t stay hidden away forever. I just have to remind myself that God is in control, and at work in all of this. Not much else to report for now. I miss you all and look forward to a time when I can come back for a visit, if not an official home assignment. That has been delayed until at least next year. A visit may happen near the end of this year, though, if it seems safe and wise. Blessing to you and to the US with all that is going on right now- such a hard season we’re in. Karin
