HAPPY SPRING
Spring is finally here. Trees are budding, lawns are showing a bit of greening, birds are adding their songs and new life is everywhere. Here is a little poem to help us celebrate the new season. It is written by Mary Goergen O.S.F. :
Be praised, my God, by butterfly and dragonfly wings
exercising for their first flight.
Be praised by lightning and thunder causing spring showers.
Be praised by the silent voice of grass growing and trees
budding.
Be praised by the colorful flower trumpets of spring
Be praised by downy feathers freshly dried on newly
hatched ducklings and chicks.
Be praised by songs of birds, crickets and frogs.
Be praised, my God, by all your creatures which tells of
new life.
As the earth cycles into this new season may we also begin to think about how we can care for our precious earth. We can begin with our individual actions--our every- day habits, add our family action, neighborhood actions, church action and beyond. Each circle becoming wider and having increased influence. However, it all begins with each one person being an intentional Earth Steward.
EARTH STWARD ACTION: Take time this week to do a personal inventory of your Earth Steward commitments. Do your actions match with your goals? (Here is an example--I mean to always take reusable bags to the store--I am OK at the grocery store, but not so good at other shopping chores. I can do better)
