Honoring Pope Francis

Pope Francis died last Monday and will be buried on April 28.  He is best known for his encyclical “Laudato Si,” written as an expression of solidarity with the goals of the Paris Climate Summit in 2015. His words energized people to work together for the sustainability of our “common home.” He spoke clearly about the part human activity played in climate change and that such activity was morally wrong and a “sin against God.” He highlighted the severe impacts of climate change on the poor and marginalized and urged world leaders to take urgent action. He called on governments, communities and individuals to adopt sustainable practices and lifestyles.  He reminded us that “every aspect of the natural world has intrinsic value and deserves care and respect.” May we follow his advice and example.
