Everywhere It Is Spring
Isn’t it wonderful to wake up to all the sights and sounds of spring? That first delicate green of the leaves, the bright blue sky filled with the songs of birds. God has created such a beautiful world for us. The following little poem captures this season and the desire to praise God for all the emerging life around us. May we grow in the quiet talks we have with our creator and sustainer who, like the emerging spring, overcame the dark and burst forth in glory. The deceptively simple poem by Shuntaro Tanikawa is found in a book called Earth Prayers. This book contains 365 prayers and poems from around the world and is edited by Elizabeth Roberts and Elias Amidon.
Over cherry blossoms
White clouds
Over clouds
The deep sky
Over cherry blossoms
Over clouds
Over the sky
I can climb forever.
Once in spring
I with God
Had a quiet talk.
Earth steward action: Please take advantage of this beautiful spring and walk and meditate on the beautiful gift God has given us in creation. Practice “quiet talks” with the author of Creation.
