A Poem Celebrating Spring

April is a delightful month. The Season of Easter continues, and we celebrate Earth Day, Arbor Day and the beginning of spring flower gardens. The following poem, from the Chinook Psalter, paints a spring picture for us.

The garden is rich in diversity with the plants of a hundred families. In the spaces between the trees, with all the fragrances—Basil, mint, lavender, God keep my remembrance pure. Raspberry, Apple. Rose, God fill my heart with love. Dill, anise, tansy, Holy Winds blow in me. Rhododendron, zinnia, may my prayer be beautiful. May my Remembrance, Oh God, be as incense to thee in the sacred ground of eternity, as I smell and remember the ancient forests of the earth.
