A Prayer for Elections

Most Gracious and Loving Holy Spirit, by whose inspiration humankind establishes government for the good of all the peoples of your creation,

We look to you with gratitude, hope, and trust as we in the United States of America [prepare to] participate in elections of persons who will make, execute, and adjudicate the laws of our nation, states, and communities.

May these elections be imbued with your grace at all levels, and further your will of love.

May all voting procedures be effected in honesty, fairness, safety, and peace, free of malice and violence, with respect for all.

Guide the candidates to humility, that they may speak the truth and sincerely seek to promote the public wellbeing, uphold our Constitution, and protect the rights of all.

Guide all voters to knowledge, discernment, and foresight, that we may be led by your truth, compassion, and wisdom in casting our votes.

And may the results of these elections move our nation, states, and communities toward fuller harmony with your purpose for us within your creation. May they enable us toward more conscientious and joyful participation in the values and Way of Life made known to us through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, who is one with You and Beloved of the Father.
