A Tribute to Trees

Brothers and sisters!

Let us acknowledge—

we owe so much to trees!—

those stately sentinels,

majestic monitors

standing patiently by;

witnessing our decisions,

wiles, and divisions,

recording our history,

guarding our future

as best they can!

In clandestine communion

trees share the secret messages

of Earth and Sky,

connecting atmosphere to soil

preserving wisdom

that we, called “Man,”

fathom only by deep toil.

Selfish children, we

do so much wrong!

What miracle but trees

may be the rescue of Earth’s ecosphere?

Trees strive

to put things back where they belong!

Sisters and brothers!

Let us become as wise as trees,

love them,

and let them do what they can do!

Perhaps, with Wisdom,

Love, and Trees,

Life may on Earth renew….
