World Water Day is March 22

Statistics show 72% of world water use goes to supporting agriculture, 12% to industries and 16% to households and services. Here are some ways we can affect that 16% and take part in World Water Day.

  1. Fix leaks promptly, and brush teeth and shave with water off.

  2. Use full loads in all washers — take short showers.

  3. Use water-saving appliances and shower heads.

  4. Save water with reusable bottles (reduce plastic junk).

  5. Keep rubbish out of toilets, street drains and waterways.

  6. Plant native plants, trees and drought-resistant grasses.

  7. Use soaker hoses and water in cooler parts of the day.

And support research in agriculture practices.

(World Water Day is sponsored by UNESCO — see sources for information on this year’s conference.)
